I hope you are all keeping healthy and active at home creating art.

During the height of the crisis shutdown, the Board voted to help those who are critical to our organization. We were thrilled to donate money to Rainbow Stew, the Center for Healthy Generations, and Desert Hills Presbyterian Church from our account balance. These establishments have generously allowed Chaparral artists to hang their work and have shows at no charge. Without the continuing support of these establishments, Chaparral would have no venues to display our artworks.

Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 14 at the Center for Healthy Generations. It will be great to be getting together again. If you have any ideas or requests for demos, please email the Chaparral Artists Gmail account!

Valerie, Michelle, and Stacy are working hard to get Rainbow Stew ready to reopen on June 1. They are deep cleaning and reorganizing the store allowing for more social distancing, preparing for the new protocols. They request that masks be worn inside the store. Hand sanitizer and gloves will be available because we all like to handle the merchandise.

We are postponing the Spring Judged Photography show to June. Intake will be Thursday, June 11, from 4:30 to 6, and Friday, June 12 from 12:30 to 2. Awards are given, but no reception will be held. The next shows will be the October photo show, November fine art show, and the Same But Different show in December. We will be discussing more summer shows with the store and get that information to you as soon as possible.

Sadly, after listening to the participating artists, MBCAC has decided to postpone the 2020 Open Studio Tours. The good news is that in 2021 there will be both a Spring and a Fall 2 week Tour. It should be interesting. Stay tuned.

I have enjoyed my two-year stint as your guild president. Thank you for your support. But all good things come to an end. If you feel like you would like to help continue your organization, please consider running for office. New blood and a new vision are critical for the growth of our club.
