For December into January 2021, a member's themed show titled "Anything Goes!" is on display at Rainbow Stew in Yucca Valley. Fourteen (14) artists of Chaparral delivered a fabulous array of entries, styles ranging from abstract to realism in all manner of mediums.

We decided to postpone the previously slated "Same but Different" themed show because of membership coordination difficulties. As many know, the Same but Different show offers an opportunity to share multiple representations of a particular subject, such as hummingbirds in glass, photography, watercolor, and mixed media. For some, this means using a photographer's piece as a reference for a painting. For others, this provide a way for Plein Air painters to share their finished pieces from a group outing. But, no matter how an artist defines the theme, our members have not coordinated with one another this year because of location closures and stay-at-home orders. Therefore, until Chaparral Artists can gather again and coordinate their plans for the next Same but Different show, we will continue on with various new themed shows to usher in the new year!

The "Anything Goes!" show will also be featured on many occasions throughout the year in the hopes that an open category will support our adventurous artists tackling the non-representational styles that cannot always be categorized easily. Keep an eye out on what the Chaparral members are submitting to this unbound theme, you might be surprised! Art is available for purchase through Rainbow Stew and will be on display until January 14, 2021.
