Mark your calendars! Chaparral Artists is once again thrilled to partner with Gubler Orchids as they prepare for the 2026 Gubler Orchid Festival, taking place during the first weekend of October. One of the highlights of this year's celebration will be the 2nd Annual Orchid Art Contest, inviting artists and photographers to capture the extraordinary beauty, elegance, and vibrant colors of orchids through their own creative vision.
Find Your Inspiration Before the Festival
To help artists prepare, Gubler Orchids is opening its greenhouse for two special Inspiration Days, offering a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful orchid collections in the region.
Inspiration Days
- Tuesday, July 28 • 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Tuesday, August 18 • 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Whether you're a painter, photographer, sculptor, mixed media artist, or simply looking for fresh creative energy, these sessions are designed to spark new ideas. Wander among thousands of blooming orchids, study their remarkable forms, discover unexpected color combinations, explore dramatic lighting, and experience the peaceful atmosphere that makes Gubler Orchids such a magical place.
Bring your camera to capture reference photographs, set up an easel for plein air painting, fill a sketchbook with studies, or simply spend time observing. The photographs you take may become your contest submission, or they might inspire a completely new painting, sculpture, collage, or mixed-media creation.

To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, all participants are asked to follow a few simple guidelines:
- Closed-toe shoes are required for everyone entering the greenhouse.
- Please remain aware of your surroundings and fellow artists while working.
- Respect the plants and displays by avoiding contact whenever possible.
- Keep walkways clear so visitors and staff can move safely throughout the greenhouse.
