This members-only show titled "Celebration" was a themed exhibit on display at Rainbow Stew in Yucca Valley between May 13 and June 14 of 2023.
The themes we present in our members-only shows are always open to interpretation. We enjoy drawing attention to Black & White creations as it is considered a limited palette, it can accommodate multiple mediums, and for some it offers an exciting challenge.
High contrast or low, Black and White versions of anything can be strange, intriguing, striking, and inspiring. Photographers and painters alike must think about contrast, lights and darks and composition in a whole new way when working with only black and white and the range of grays between.
There was no limit to the age of creations or the type of medium - though we cannot truly accommodate more than one three-dimensional piece during any of our shows because of limited floor space. This installment of "Black & White" received twenty-two (22) entries submitted by twelve (12) artists in the mediums of acrylics, mixed-media, oils, photography, and watercolor.
